In-Service Training Introduction

In Service Training for all categories of officers and staff is an essential management tool to realize the Human Resource Development Programme of the Forestry epartment Peninsular Malaysia (FDPM). The main aim of the training programme of the FDPM is to increase the knowledge base and subsequently the efficiency level of officers and staff in various fields and work descriptions towards achieving the Sustained Yield Management Concept advocated by the FDPM.

In keeping with the FDPM's Human Resource Development Programme for 1995 - 2005 and Corporate Plan for 2001 - 2005, amongst the scope of training offered by the Forestry Training Unit, Kepong are as follows:

Dendrology, Timber Identification, Forest Mensuration and Land Survey.

Forest Policy, Operations and Administration.

Forest Management and Development.

Forest Plantation Management.

Forest Harvesting.

Finance and Office Administration.

Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

Motivation and Leadership.

Forest Law, Prosecution and Enforcement.

ISO 9002.

Current Forestry Issues.

All the Forestry courses conducted by the Forestry Training Unit, Kepong utilities internal expertise amongst officers of the FDPM. However, for the conduct of courses with generic contents as well as other related fields, assistance and coorperation from other training institutions such as INTAN, ILKAP, University Putra Malaysia (UPM), FRIM, MTIB, PDRM, PERHILITAN as well as other related agencies are also sought from time to time.
